Ma VDM follows 17-year-old Denisa, a gifted Romanian cartoonist uprooted from her Eastern European hometown to Paris by her mother’s impulsive choices. Thrust into a multicultural world she barely understands, Denisa navigates culture shock, teenage angst, and a search for identity through the lens of absurdist humour and vivid graphic storytelling. Combining live action with motion graphics, the series offers a sharp, heartfelt portrayal of immigration, adolescence, and the elusive feeling of home in contemporary Europe.

In 2023, the project was awarded the CNC France development grant, underlining its potential as a cross-cultural narrative that speaks to a new generation of European youth.
